Week of 24 Jan — 30 Jan

1. What did you do this past week?

This week I went to the gym for the first time in a few months. I want to be more consistent this year with going to the gym so I can get in shape and build up my strength. In terms of classes, I’m working through my first set of weekly assignments. I’m taking three CS courses this semester, OOP, Data Mining, and Cloud Computing, so it will be an interesting challenge to manage all my assignments well.

2. What’s in your way?

I’ve been very sore this week, but I hope it will be worth it. There’s not too much in my way in terms of schoolwork, but I know that could change in the coming weeks.

3. What will you do next week?

Next week, some classes will be in person again, so I am looking forward to that. I will continue trying to go to the gym every day and work on my assignments as they come.

4. What did you think of Paper #1: Syllabus?

At first glance, the grading system seemed strange, but after a week of class, getting enough M’s and some E’s doesn’t seem too hard.

5. What was your experience of assertions and Collatz? (this question will vary, week to week)

I’m more familiar with when/where, why, and how to use assertions now. The Collatz problem seems interesting, and I especially liked the optimizations we discussed in class.

6. What made you happy this week?

I was able to go to the gym with my friends, which made it a much more enjoyable experience. I also got a Chibi Firecracker Jinx in TFT, which is very lucky (a 2% chance.)

7. What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

I work out in the evening on most days, but I find it very hard to focus on coding assignments after coming back from the gym because I’m physically tired. One tip I have is to block out some space in between to rest. On the other hand, light exercise (especially in the morning) can help with refreshing or energizing the mind as well.
